Odd Smell?

I thought I would post this here also:

My male SI has this odor, Kind of like garlic/onion. Like when you have been cutting it up yourself, wash your hands and the odor still lingers on your hands.

This is a new odor, been going on about 4 or 5 days. He had a clean bill of health about 2 wks ago. So this is puzzling to me....

He gets all the good stuff recommended for SI's. My hubby says the birds eat better than him.

He gets daily baths. (loves them)

I thought it could be a new yeast thing. So I add ASV to his water. Would you think I should send off a new yeast/bact. test?

I know that some birds omit odor, some pleasant (like my macaws, I love that citrus smell), some not so pleasant. I wondered if this is an Eclectus thing?

Any help or ideas?

Thanks,

Tamaran

I'm guessing this not his breath but his feathers?

An odd smell can be caused by many different things.

New foods-yeast or fungal infections-stagnant water-birds who make soup
And then bathe in it. Or it could be an internal thing.

My female has had several bathes and has a clean bill of health.
Sometimes I can smell an off smell but every bird has their own smell like we do but if it’s a highly noticeable smell. Hmm u know I am not sure.....

Someone will come along and be able to help you out  How old is your eckie

Hi,

If you are worried about yeast, feed foods with fresh garlic 3 times a week. The ACV will keep yeast down also.

You may want to do a search at www.holisticbird.org

Frankly, what you describe doesn't sound like a yeasty smell at all. Do you feed a fresh diet? If you buy prepared cook and serve foods, there may well be garlic in them. If so, that would explain the smell. Ekkies love to eat, after all!
