Maybe silly but... his sleeping habit...

He is young, 3 1/2 weeks. He is eating well, and going to the bathroom well. All is well. But, the way he sleeps is strange.

(I am really really new at this part)
But he sleeps in the weirdest positions. His head all bent out of shape, stretching his neck ...
or all sprawled out.. or somekind of weird way.

Honestly, I don't expect him to look like an adult, but can he hurt himself by trying to lay his head back on his back?
Do I need to stop him? Am I to be concerned?

thanks
stace

Like this attachment? That's how all of my birds sleep and it's normal.

Wow, he is so young! I am not really sure but it sounds like something he would grow ou of once he gets bigger and stronger. Where did you get him from?

Cool bird..
but I ask.. even at 3 1/2 weeks? Can they take it? the stress of it? I mean, should i hold him all night to keep his neck safe?

Relax. Baby birds sleep in all kinds of crazy ways. Wait until you find him on his side with his legs outstretched He's not dead, just sleeping

ok.. I will relax.. it is just strange.. you know, ever since you are a kid, you always hear your adults tell you to 'support the baby's neck" (about human babies) I guess I was just nervous. ok.. maybe I will post pics tomorrow..

thank you

That wasnt a picture of any of my birds lol. Just like Nancy said, they sleep in all kinds of crazy ways. My Cockatiel is proof! He lays down like he's nesting an egg!

Pita sleeps on his swing.....I think.....that's where he goes when I put him in his cage, and thats where I find him in the morning. If he does anything else, I'm not aware. He has a Happy Hut, but I've no clue if he uses it or not...lol

I googled "sleeping birds", and here are some of the ways they sleep

these aren't sleeping, I just thought it was a cool pic...lol

My Sun conure sleeps in a happy hut but in very strange ways. She will sleep on her back with her feet straight in the air. I thought she was dead the first time I saw her like that. She sleeps on her side, etc. Like everyone else said, babies just do that. Crystal
