I want an Ekkie

I've decided that either end of this year or beginning of next I'm going to get an Ekkie boy. I know who I'm going to get it from (same guy that bred Dharma and my quakes I'm picking up in a couple of weeks), so it's a case of waiting for his guys to go down and produce a boy. It would be an RS.
Can anyone tell me why not to get an Ekkie. I've been doing my reading and having lorikeets I'm used to the high fruit veg diet, I'm used to the bigger guys too. Sandra is housed down the back, when she's in her cage, and the Ekkie would be under the verandah with a similar amount of freedom to what Sandra has. Shouldn't be any problems with 'too dust.

Hahaha...don't go looking to ME for advice on not getting one To me there is nothing better than a male eclectus

I say go for it...as long as you can provide the diet for him...an ekkie is fair game.

Jimpierce is right! There is no reason NOT to. They are great! I have yet to get my special girl, but I had a male.
The only reason I could think of not to get one is the noise level. Eclectus like tranquil environments, and if your too is loud, the ekkie may not be happy. But, every bird is different. Yay for another ekkie lover!

Ok, ekkieville here we come. What I might do is have an inside an outside cage so that it won't get disturbed too much espiecially if Sandra decides to have one of her close range screaming fits. At least inside it just needs to deal with the lorikeets and Dharma. Will keep you posted on developments, but it won't be until later in the year at the earliest.

The only reason I can think of is is your 'Too screams a lot...it MIGHT make the Ekkie neurotic.

Otherwise, Ekkies are the BESTEST! And smell so goooood!

Sandra has her I'm awake uncover me, let me out scream in the morning, you're home come and say hello to me scream, and I'm ready to go to bed now scream. These generally don't last long (a couple of minutes max.). She's down the end of the yard (about 50' from where the Ekkie would be).
