Is something wrong with his foot?

Last night Echo was out sitting on the couch with us watching TV like he does every evening and my husband noticed he was holding one foot up and standing on the other rather than both feet like he always does. I didn't think much of it at first but I saw him doing it again this morning.

Just now when I took him off his playtop to put him to bed I noticed when he stepped up that the foot he was holding up before foot was alot warmer than the other??? This does not sound normal to me? What could it be!

He is eating and playing and seems normal. Is it normal for them to sit on one foot at times?

No worries!!!

Nothing at all is wrong with his foot. That's how ekkies (most birds) rest. The muscles are actually relaxed when they're held up.

If it's cold in your house, he may be doing it to warm it, but more than likely it's just because he's comfortable and content. And yes, the foot will always be much warmer when it comes down. Our babies nap a lot during the day, mine gets about 14-16 hours of sleep every day if you count her 12 hours at night and her random half hour naps throughout the day.

Thanks so much for your reply! I'm a new Ekkie mommy so I worry constanly about his diet and everything else!
He has only been here a week and I have just never seen him stand like that! Maybe he just learned how.
I really need to stop worrying so much and just enjoy him! He is a sweetie!

He is so cute! Our ekkie stands in that position when he gets tired - usually on his boing or rope perch. You are not over worrying - I did too when Peeka first came home - he sneezed 3 times on his 3rd day home and I was all worried that he was getting sick - turned out he just had a lil bit of water in his naires from his bath the evening before and he was just fine! I look forward to hearing more stories and seeing pics of your cute new lil baby!
