Hi everyone,

Please help with suggestions to make hime stop, I am at my wits end and he is making my other birs irritable also.

Thanks

Ignore them. Plain & simple.

Reward them for periods of silence but completely ignore the behaviour. Turn your back on the bird & pretend to do something else much more interesting. As soon as the bird quiets, turn your head & look at them. If they stay quiet, speak to them, praise & go see them. If they start again, turn around once more.

No doubt you shout something at the bird to get it to shut up in frustration...? many bird owners do and it only reinforces the behaviour.

The bird morphs from calling to find out where you are to screaming because you shout back, which is what the bird wants. And if for example the bird shuts up only when you go to see them, they learn in order to get what they want, YOU, they only have to scream.

It can take ALOT of time & ALOT of patience (and earplugs) to stop a conditioned screamer full stop.

Hope this helps :)
Soph.
