better in pairs?

Is it true that eclectus's prefer to be in pairs? Rather than alone?

Well I think that's true with any FIDS because they are flock animals.I myself am owned by 3 eclectus 2 girls 1 boy and they would rather be together.I had to seperate the boy due to his screaming they are under 1 year old.I hope this helps you.

Ditto Marcia D. They can't really find the companionship they crave from us no matter how perfect we try to be, imo. They are undomesticated animals wired for companionship 24/7. Some issues occur when they are pulled and handfed young and imprint to a human without bird mentors. They dont know they arent human and they dont know we arent birds and they're stuck in limbo somewhere, imo....Two is always better and I like one of each gender it's the least we can do. Hatching of eggs can be prevented with swapping out with fakes or freezing their own, but it's not guaranteed they'll even lay, anyway.

I've heard accounts of mature females attacking younger males or males not quite so interested in breeding... so no, it's not always a good idea to keep them in pairs.

not to diminish either bird in any way, if it is your first bird you may want to start out with the Quaker.
