Please, I need your opinion...

Hello everybody!
I'm new here...
My name is Katie and I'm owned by three Tiels.
We - my fiance and I - decided to get an Ekkie, because we fell in love with one long time ago.
Until recently we wanted a female, but after some heavy reading and consulting with my avian vet I'm all confused.
I read almost everywhere that males are better pets.
As a totally new to this matter I wanted to ask somebody who is experienced and who has ekkie at home...somebody like you guys .

I know that the bird will be a great pet if you spend time with her/him. We have three male tiels and they rule the roost . They have at least 4 hours out of the cage time every day. We play with all of them, they are cute happy little guys and they are a sunshine of my life. One is a great talker.

I'm just very concerned about us being new to ekkie world.
PLEASE, could you let me know what are your opinions about this?
Are females really so much harder to own,; do they talk as good as males?
I know that all birdies get hormonal, but do your hens talk after the hormonal period or some of them really stop talking?

I have million of questions... .

I will appreciate all your inputs and opinions.

Hi Katie

I am owned by 18 FIDS.4 of which are eclectus.3 are females and 1 is a male.
One of the female's I just adopted from a lady this week she is Paris Rose 2 yrs old and she is a sweetheart.The other 2 females I purchased last year one just turned 1 yrs old on the 4/4 and the other one is about to turn 1 yrs old in another week.My girls are very sweet except for Scarlett she doesn't like to be touched which I am working on.Rosie the one who just turned 1yrs old is very lovable.The male who is 7 months old likes to lunge at me as if he's going to bite but I ignore him.They are all Vos Eclectus except for Paris Rose she is a Red Sided Eclectus.

In the past I was owned by 3 Red Sided Eclectus but they were stolen from me 3 years ago.But out of them all the male was the most hormonal he was set up to breed and I lost him as a pet.He started biting on a regular basis.
Basically don't let anyone sway you from getting either one.I prefer the females over the males and that is why I now have 4.All in all I love all my FIDS.The ones that require the special diet different than other parrots are the Eclectus.Just do your research on them so you are prepared.
