Carolyn Swicegood (Eclectus Parrot)


Carolyn has had a lifelong interest in the welfare of birds, being known as the neighborhood caretaker of injured or abandoned wild birds from an early age. She is a devotee of the Vosmaeri sub-species of Eclectus Parrots. After working as a high school business education teacher, an airline flight attendant, and a real estate salesperson, she now devotes most of her time to birds and to writing. She has written for numerous publications including Bird Talk, Watchbird, and an on-line magazine called Winged Wisdom for which she writes the continuing series, Kitchen Physician. She serves as associate editor of Watchbird Magazine which features her column named Wing Tips. Most of her writing reflects her interest in the nutritional requirements of parrots and in alternative methods maintaining the health of parrots. Her web site, the *Land of Vos* has been well received by the avicultural community because of the wealth of information about the Eclectus species and the many fun photographs featuring her pampered babies. The extensive section of recipes for parrot foods is of interest to many parrot lovers.

Carolyn refers to herself as a "farmer of pretty chickens" and if you visit her web site, you will agree that she raises beautiful red and green chickens! Birdboard is delighted to welcome her to our crack team of experts.

Introduction

Carolyn Swicegood is my name and Eclectus Parrots are my game -- or more accurately, my love and my avian passion! I look forward to sharing Eclectus information with visitors to the BirdBoard.

My Eclectus pairs and I have raised many wonderfully sweet babies together, but for the past few years, my birds and I have taken a break. I remain totally devoted to these sensitive, intelligent, and intuitive birds about whom I enjoy writing and sharing what they have taught me. My web site, the Land of Vos, is an ongoing collection of information and articles about Eclectus parrots and general information about parrot health, nutrition, and general care.
