Trust

I've had my 3 1/2 month old male Eclectus, Sunny, for about a week now, and he seems completely adjusted to his environment... eating out of his bowl all the time, moving around the cage, and playing with his toys a bit. He usually screams whenever I go out to see him, I don't know if he's just saying hi or telling me to go away. He nips at me almost every time I try to get him to step up to take him out of his cage. I've been using something in my other hand to distract him and block his bite as I get him to step up, which works, but I would rather that he steps up by choice without wanting to nip at me. I sit next to his cage and talk to him, and he seems to enjoy playing the blinking game, which he often initiates himself now. What can I do to gain his love and trust, so that he will want to spend time with me out of the cage?

maybe have his favourite treat for him so he will want to be on your hand and maybe take him where he cant see his cage when he is out because he will probably just want to get back to the cage if he can see it,hope this helps a little :-) im not an expert though but this works with my ringneck.

I also used treats to train my conure to step up. He loves fresh cherries.
