I did it!!

That's right - I finally did it and got myself another Eclectus. As some of you know I had a male Ekkie that passed away around 6 months ago. I have greatly missed having an Eclectus around, but wasn't quite ready to add another one from my loss until now.

I have been thinking really hard the past month or so about adding another Eclectus and I finally did it. I opted for a female this time as I thought another male would bring back to many memories being as they look so much alike. Anyway, she is a female red sided and is about 5 months old. The breeder who I am getting her from just loves her and has treated her as a pet and grown very attached to her. She named her Ella - Bella, which I will probably keep the name, not sure yet.

I am very excited to get her - she will be shipped in next week probably Thursday. So I have a little over a week until she comes home. I am very happy and excited about this decision.

Congrats on your new baby! I know its hard to come to the decision to replace one that you lost. We lost our very loved and cherished Blue Crown Conure back In January of this year. She was the first bird I ever had. Last Sunday we brought home a 10 week old Blue Crowned Conure. It was hard and wonderful at the same time. I am very happy for you! I like the name "Ella-Bella." Its very cute.

I may as be the one to make the request for pictures as soon as possible. It sounds like you made the right decision at the right time. Good luck. Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone - the loss of my male was very hard for me, I knew when he was only 4 weeks old and I visited every week until he was weaned. I was only able to visit him once a week because it was about 3 hours round trip. We bonded very well and I watched him grow - he would always fall asleep in my arms. He was very special to me and my mom even adored him - she prefers smaller type birds, but she loved my male ekkie.

It was very hard loosing him and I still think about him all the time - I have been wanting another for so long, but just wasn't emotionally ready. I am very happy about finally making this decision and believe it is an excellent and the right decision on my part.

I will always miss my little male, but now because of him and the joy he brought me I am giving another ekkie a forever and loving home.

Congrats on your new baby! We lost out TAG this winter and it took several months before we were ready for a new baby. Even then we couldn't go with another grey as I couldn't look at another grey face and not think of Gryph. Ella-Bella will be her own self and you will make new wonderful memories with her.

Congratulations, and sorry for the loss of your male. I personally like the name Ella-Bella, but, I'm a little biased with the name Bella as I have one myself.

Many happy years with your new pretty redhead!
