Newbie here

Hello everyone,
I am new to this board and wanted to say hello to all my fellow Ekkie lovers. As you can see from the screen name, my name is Meredith. I do not have an Eclectus at the present moment, but I do have one coming home either the end of this week or this weekend, we are still working out the shipping info.

My new Eclectus is a female red sided and I am very excited for her arrival, she will be the only Ekkie in my home, however I am not new to the Eclectus species, so I know all about them and there diet .

I have yet to name her, but will hopefully get a better feel for a name once I finally meet her. She is 5 months old and is a super sweet girl - the breeder has kept her in her home and treated her as one of her pets. She has fallen in love with this girl, but just cannot spare the time for her.

Like I said before I am very excited for her arrival!!!

Congratulations!!! I have a male red sided who will be 2 on July 2. They are incredible wonderful birds. You will be amazed at the relationship you will have. I don't think there is a prettier bird than a female eclectus.
I agree the name game is easier after you meet your baby. I couldn't come up with a name for my guy. I had him 7 weeks before I let a friend name him. Of course, I later thought of a name I liked but he would have none of it. His name is Echo. He would chant it over and over to me when I tried to rename him.
Enjoy your girl and please share photos!

Welcome and congrats on your new bird. I just got a male red side and even though Apollo and I are still just getting to know each other I am loving having him.

Welcome Meredith!!!

Can I first say I am very scared from reading your post?? This is so weird and actually kinda scary in way - my name is also Meredith and this weekend I also have a female Red sided Eclectus coming home. How odd is that?

I thought I would give you all an update, I wish the updated was a bit happier though. Unfortunately, the Red Sided female that I was to be getting fell through.

Well, she was to be a re home - she was coming from a breeder, however she didn't reed this bird it was her one of her pets. Anyway, once it came time to make the final arrangements she decided that she wanted to keep the bird in the family instead of never seeing it again.

I don't blame her or anything like this - she loves this bird and is very attached to it. The only reason for the re home is because she doesn't have a whole lot of time to give to her pets with her large breeding program. Nothing was ever set in stone with us as she changed her mind before any final decisions were ever made. I probably would have done the same thing if I was her as she is on the west coast and I am on the east coast.

Anyway, I am still looking for a pet, but not completely sure if I will end up with another Eclectus or not - I have a few possibilities, so I will just have to wait and see what happens. I know the right bird will come along sometime and I am in no hurry.
