That's exactly what it means. Ekkie girls' beaks lose the candy corn and turn all black by a year to 18 months. Ekkie boys do the opposite, and lose the black and turn all candy corn in the same time.

It's just adorable, and I love it to pieces. Scarlett's beak turned early so we only got to enjoy it for a couple of months!
