Here's a shot from Mai Tai from the back. She actually looks more red than this photo.

Mai Tai and Eekie do look a lot alike! One diffrence is the tail though...Eekie's ends in yellow! I wish i know where she came from (but like you guys said, it wouldnt really matter -i'd love her the same) But anyways, This is all I know : She came from a breeder in Florida. His name was Joe Spinoza. (Sp?) Has anyone ever heard of this guy?!?!?!?!She came into this petstore just as it switched owners. She devoloped a crop infection while the past store owners were handfeeding her. They took her home, nursed her back to health. By the time she was better and got to go back to the petstore it was in diffrent hands. Her hatch papers and vet papers were lost. She was than housed with a MACAW. IN ONE CAGE. (UGGG I did mention I hated this place didnt I?!) He got sold, she didnt , she learned to bite ppl.....BITE PPL HARD. I started working there...we took a fancy in eachother- Then one day I heard the news that she was going to BE SENT back to the breeder (cuz no one wanted her and she wasnt very friendly to customers. Well -DUH if your an annoying screaming kicking at her retard!!!!). To be USED AS BREEDING STOCK. My heart dropped to my knees at that and i knew that was it.....I had to take her home. Did I mention she is not banded. None of the birds that come from that guy are...None. (and some of them dont fit into species profiles very well, ie: too small, too big, too yellow etc) *cough cough bird mill cough* (??? im not implying they are, i have no clue honestly. Im just upset at the idea) Thats my story. Sorry for the rambling longness...

Becky:

I'd be willing to bet that she's a hybrid: Vos and Grand or Vos and Redsided. That would explain the yellowish tip to her tail. Mai tai is a deep royal blue, with no trace of purple. Your photo seems to show a violet hue.

Mai Tai's feathers look lovely! Nice and shiny and healthy looking.
I can't see her eyes close enough but she sure looks more red-sided than anything.

I have to agree with you on BeckyRae's red girl. I think she's a vos cross. I read somewhere the vos have a band of yellow at least an inch wide on the tail. (CRS, can't remember where I saw that!)
