Some questions Again

Hey guys, I know I've only been on intermittently, but it's a bit harder settling in than originally planned. The house needed more work than I was informed, plus all my clients came back from vacay and went back to work at the same time, so I've been totally overloaded. Let's see, my one dog ate bug poison when we first got here, Brooklyn has a staph infection and severe allergies all of a sudden, internet never works...LOL needless to say, it's been a rough month and a half. So sorry I only come around to ask questions.

So Sebastian is now 19 weeks old and he pretty much doesn't make any noise. Once in a blue you'll hear him coo, but other than that, nada. Is this normal? I mean, don't get me wrong, I don't want to hear him screaming or anything, but sometimes I wonder if he has a voice box at all.

Oh, and big time scare, my niece was holding him the other day and the shade wasn't on the window and next thing I heard is flapping of wings and bam, I turned to see him fall to the ground. It was a loud thud too, I almost had a heart failure.

He's so unsteady due to his wing clip. I'm really hesitant to get them clipped again once they grow back. Although, he's a flier, so maybe I might have to. Going to play it by ear. I'm surprised it's been over a month and they haven't grown substantially at all. Is that strange?

No, its not strange at all, flight feathers dont grow quite like hair, they have to fall out and then they grow new ones, more like teeth I guess. Hope that helps. Moving is always rough, and nothing ever seems to go as planned.

Makes me think of the story about the kid that never talked until he was 7 years old when he looked up from breakfast and said, "oatmeal's cold." What!!!, said the Mom, "you can talk!! Why haven't you ever said anything before?"

"Til now, everything was pretty much okay," he replied.

Could be as simple as that. He'll get noiser as he gets older.

You might consider putting sheers or something lightweight over the windows in his vicinity for a few months until he figures out where it's safe to "fly". That will soften the blow a bit, discourage him from trying to fly outside, and give him something to hang onto if he does end up going towards them.

WE WANT PICTURES!!!

Yep, Cyrano was quiet as a mouse for a long time. He does talk a little and mumble and whistle from time to time throughout the day now though. He still is very quiet for what I would think a parrot would be, but he is also still only a year old.
