Remembering Sonny

thank you everyone for your heartfelt outpouring of love and understanding (man oh man-- if i ever want a good cry--just have to reread your comments!)... my husband and i were finally able to talk about sonny this morning... the dogs run into the 'bird room' first thing in the morning to check on their birds...and sniff sonny's empty cage... thanks for your help and listening to sonny's adventures over the past couple years (from his great escape... how smart we thought he was, etc.)... this is a wonderful forum to talk about our birds... we will miss him forever... our beautiful boy...

This may be premature, but I want to reassure you that if you decide to get another green boy of the same subspecies, don't feel that you will think about Sonny and do comparisons all the time. When we lost Jasmine I was hesitant to get another SIE female because they look so much the same. However, when we decided to visit babies, we were pleased to realize that although they look a lot alike, their personality immediately makes them very different. We were able to fall in love with another redhead very easily.

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. Its very hard to lose one. I agree do not think that getting another one of the same species is a bad thing. When I lost mine, people kept telling me not to get another Blue Crown or another Yellow Collared. I am happy I did not listen to them. The two I have are completely different than the ones before. I like the species and they remind me to smile about the ones I lost as opposed to be sad. Don't be afraid to fill that empty cage back up... when you are ready of course.
