his colors are so bright in the sunlight! great job of getting him used to a harness, they have so much more freedom that way.

Yeah hopefully he keeps accepting it, I think he's had it on 3 times so far. Minimal agitation while putting it on and taking it off and he gets pretty mad if he steps on the leash and becomes off balance.

he doesn't mind it once it's on though? did the breeder train him to wear it or did you? I'm jealous, I can't get one on any of my fids yet.

Nope the breeder wouldn't do it she said there was no way she would have time to.

Lets see, first I watched half the DVD they gave me.
Second I started lifting his wings, short periods first, to get him use to it.
(also I did not lift them far I slowly got to the point where I could lift them all the way)
Third I started putting my hands on his head to cover it.
Fourth I slipped the head part over a few times.
(you turn it inside out and put it on your hand so they see your hand going over, not the harness)

for the first few repeats of all steps I used treats. Which can be any of their favorite treat, for him it's grapes.

I really try as hard as I can to not make him uncomfortable by pushing his body around trying to get it on.

I take him outside IMEDIATLY after I get it on. If I don't distract him he will mess with it but as soon as he goes outside he doesn't touch it unless he accidentally steps on it.
One time he bit me because he stepped on it and became unbalanced and scared.

When he nibbles(or bites) on anything I grab his top beak with my fingers and move it off and say no.

Pretty much just do what the dvd says.
I got it on the second day after the wing/head conditioning.

Oh yeah and now that I can lift his wings for longer amount of time, and can lift them higher, I do count to 3, so he knows if he just waits I will stop in a short amount of time.

Oh and he's not a cuddly guy, he tolerates me touching him, and did not like his wings touched at all at first,
so it seems like it would be a bit harder for me to do it to him but it wasn't.
