One of our 7 month old girls has mumbled/talked like you described in a previous post, for a couple months, and now says 'step up' (even though she does not care to!) plus a few other things her dad says. I do think that mumbling babies become talkers earlier. No scientific proof, just my opinon.
It really is unusual for them to talk at Tiki's age, so encourage it. If you repeat and laugh whenever he "says" something, he will try to please you and talk more. There are going to be a lot of jealous bird owners who read this post!

Yep it sounded just like when we laugh, he does mumble alot and we talk back to him when he does which makes him mumble more. So I'm hopeful this is a good sign that he is trying to find his voice and exercise his voice box or whatever birds have that make them talk lol!
