Eckie feeding schedule - diet

OK I'm really sorry if you guys are getting tired of talking about this!

Since eckies like cooked foods, fresh foods. How many times a day do you feed them? Twice OK? My other birds get fresh foods and dry in morning, so they have their dry still for afternoon, but I am not planning on giving my eckie seeds or pellets.

Does this sound OK? I'm not sure if I should be loading up on the carbs more in the morning, but this fits in better with my routine. Maybe I should throw a sweet potato in the morning mix? or some cooked pasta or something?

Morning - fresh veggies, china prarie sprouts
Afternoon - birdie bread, cooked beans, rice, grains

Hmm i don't have a schedule set, should I?
I just kind of feed whatever is convenient for me, and like to switch it up cause I never eat the same thing at the same time of day either so I figure he doesn't care to!

I end up feeding all day and do not have a proper scale yet because money is so tight right now!

Typically when I wake up in the morning, (time varies anywhere from 6am to 9am depending on when I want to go in to work LOL!)
Sometimes I do fruit in the morning, sometimes I have some food from the night before.
I put plastic wrap over his dish and throw it in the fridge for the next morning some nights.

Since I only usually work 3-5 hours I usually leave some fresh food in his bowl and if I'm going to be gone all day or think he wont eat it all in a good amount of time then I come home from lunch and take it out/throw it away.

I feed him dinner, usually something warm, like a soft food mix, corn on the cob, sweet potato, usually between 4-6 depending on how hungry I think he is.

Sometimes at night I put a seed mix, sometimes I do the seed mix after work instead of fresh.

I made the seed mix out of organic seeds, nuts, dried peppers, dried fruit, etc.
Birds eat seed in the wild, why do you not feed it? I'm curious.

He likes to throw out the green veggies and anything I don't make warm for him so usually I chop everything up real small and run warm water over it/drain it.
Sometimes I don't though. In the morning I would rather just give him food straight from the fridge so I'm trying to wean him off warm stuff then. Usually he's hungry enough to eat it cold in the mornings.

Sorry this is so long and scattered!

thanks for all the info. I do feed seeds to my other birds. They get lots of vegies and fresh foods too, but also dry goldenfeast. But I thought Eckies should be mostly if not all fresh. China Prarie sprout mix has sprouted seeds in it, they are sprouted so better for her, so she will be getting seed, just in sprout form.

Morning is various chopped fruits and veggies.
Afternoon he gets his dry mix
Dinner he gets cooked stuff, like bean mix, 7 grain kashi pilaf, some of what we are having for dinner, ect.

To me seed is considered "fresh" right?
I don't buy like a cockatiel mix or whatever they try to sell you at pet stores lol.
I buy different seeds from the same place I buy all my fruit/veggies.
They are all organic, as is everything at that store.

Here some info on it,
sprouted seeds are suppose to be healthier than non sprouted so I think you are fine.
Mainly I like the seeds because it's a quick snack when he's hungry. He doesn't get much of this. I did get a bunch of free sample pellets and stuff and threw some of those in my mix too so he does get a few pellets but it's not even near the 10% that alot of people give.

I think in the wild birds probably eat alot of seed. I think what you need to look out for is the fat content because our birds don't fly as much as wild ones. And sprouted seeds somehow have less fat or so I have been told lol

Here this is the list I used to make my mix, theres another link to another list here too.

Land of Vos - Carolyn's Recipes

It made quite a bit and will last me MONTHS and months!
(I didn't use everything on that list either I made my own)

wow those are some great recipies! better than what I feed my family.

I'm not usually anti-seed at all, as it in unprocessed and more natural for them to eat, with good variety, encourages foraging and less boredom than pellets. I just thought it was a big no no for eckies. But it is helpful to be able to feed at least a small about of dry mix for times I will be away from the house. Goldenfeast blends have lots of different ingredients, so when she's ready I'll give her some. I just don't want her to be a seed junkie but already she relishes fresh foods so I don't think I have to worry about that.

Loyal Royal, that's a good schedule. My other birds I give them fresh in the morning when their hungriest then their dry in the late morning before I leave for work. Fits in with what I already have in place with just adding the cooked in the evening, if I'm lucky (being vegan) she can have some of what I'm having or vice versa (sometimes her food looks better!)

All my birds love the eclectus nuggets from Land of Vos recipes. I make a big batch and freeze them for later use.

They look delicous! I'd be tempted to try one.

I love the picture of the eckie with a chef hat, before I learned how wonderful eckies are I saw this website and thought he eckies dressed like people a little odd, thought maybe eckies and their people were eccentric, but now it all seems normal to me. how did that happen.
