Savanah is the BIGGEST sook!!

Savanah is such a sook. We had to go look at a new house, So I left knowing that we wouldnt be to long.I left her on her playstand, wich is right next to the dinning room table with more toys food and water etc. Even a towel in the basket she was meant to come home in ( she ended up in my lap the hole way home)

When I arrived home, I couldnt hear her when I called out. Walked thru the hallway doorway And I couldnt see her,So I called out. My husband said "there she is" Pointing to the lounge. The lil sook made her way onto the lounge (where I was sitting with her before we had to leave)

What a lil bugger!! everytime I go to do something,(after I have put her on the stand or table) she tries to fly from her playstand or the table to get to me!
Ive tried putting extra treats, food and toys out for her to play with, Even tried putting my husband in the mix with the toys!
AND I got him to try feeding her. But she wouldnt take anything from him today.
After her attempting to fly a few more times, and YES she is clipped. I wrapped her in her towel for cuddles(wich her breeder has ALWAYS done with her) and gave her to my husband, with a toy for her to play with.
Wich kept her entertained enough for me to cook dinner.

Then I had to share with her! Lol well the plate anyway...cos half of the plate had her food on it.

After that I tried putting her back On the stand, She climbed down it, and walked to me, and sat at my feet sooking for me to pick her up!! Shes all snuggled on my lap now, talking away!! shes just too cute!!

Should I be leaving her for longer when she sooks?? I assume since she is used to being around ALOT of other eckis and other kinds of parrots, that she would be even more lonely then usaul so maybe thats why she dosnt want to be left alone?

I will give her cage a wash over with vinegar tomorrow, And bring it in the house to set up. (I was worried that it hadnt had enough time to cure) Cause tomorrow is my birthday and I would like to have a shower in peace LOL I feel like Im A new mother, Im soo tired!!! Im so NOT usd to this!!! lol Im not complaining , Just venting..........I will get usd to it In no time,And it will be second nature,Im sure.

she sounds like a doll! I wouldn't leave her out of her cage if your going out, she sounds very active. You do want to try to encourage her to play independently because she will come to expect the same amount of attention your giving her now even when your aren't able to do it. Maybe a climbing net or a foraging basket? Foot toys? electronic toys? I'm not saying don't enjoy loving her up and cuddling her, but you also want to reinforce her abilty to entertain herself when she can't be the center of attention.

I have some foot toys in the cage, I also put a peice of ply wood in the cage so she eat in her cage and snuggle for security on an old jumper of mine, I am letting her get used to the cage before I put everything (including her net)in her cage, Maybe re-arange it to suit her better. At the moment I suppose Im babying her whilst getting to know her and her needs.

Her cage set up sounds great, the suggestions, foot toys, net, etc, were more for your concern that she didn't want to stay on playstand to help her learn how to entertain herself. If she wants to cuddle and your busy, give her a foot toy, etc.

She is way too precious! I want her, lmao. She is so gorgeous! You can send her here if you need a break, jk. Baby ekkies require a ton of attention. Echo made me feel the same way. Enjoy it while you can because even the girls grow out of it some. Although since they are used to being catered to in the wild, they expect to be more so than the males who take on more of the nurturing quality. Don't be surprised if she feels the need to guard and protect you when you nap as she gets older. Or tries to feed you. Those are sweet traits of both males and females.
