Driving me crazy!

Okay Tiki is really quiet most of the time. Like 90% of the time.

But when he knows food is being prepared or he is hungry he is screaming "squawk sqauwk" nonstop.

Usually the only thing that makes him stop is WARM food. And he will do a few squawks while he first starts to eat, and it has the sound like his mouth is full which is really cute lol!

I try to hold off and do warm food for dinner, and I try to serve it around 5 but today he demanded it at 3!

I tried to ignore it to see if he would stop maybe he was just excited because we've been out a little more than he's use to lately. But he didn't stop, so I give him his warm food which I put in a strainer and run warm water over for a little bit, and he stops immediately. It's been a while since he ate and he's happily sitting on his playstand making baby noises.

Please tell me this will get better with age!

I feel like I am reinforcing it because I know exactly what he wants and give it to him.

Oh and he also does it when I move, when I look at him sometimes, when I am coming over to him to put him on the playstand or take him out or anything.

Okay I have another question now,
what should I do when he squawks when I come over to him? It's literally any time I walk up to him.
Should I do whatever I was going to do anyways (talk to him, pick him up etc) or
should I walk away??

Don't confuse yourself. Right now you are meeting the needs of a baby. You are not training an adult bird.

The squawking will stop, but probably not for a few months. It's common for them to call out for food and comfort for quite a while. You should always reassure him, even if it's just telling him he's a good boy when he calls to you as you approach. If you know he is not hungry, after you have acknowledged him in some way (maybe even give himn a kiss), well then of course go about your business. This will help him learn to play on his own and amuse himself.

You are doing so great! Warming his supper like a good mom. Yippee, another good ekkie parent.

Nope no recipes. the only advice is chop everything up so small! Tiki wont eat kale unless he can barely see it! lol

I THINK the squawk is a baby hungry noise that carries over until they are a certain age
(unless it's reinforced)

Right now Tiki is being the sweetest thing. I had him on my shoulder and he kept just sitting there pressing his beak on my cheek lol!
But he always attacks my ears like they are some foreign object that shouldn't be there.

yeah I agree. when they're little and they squawk for food and you give it to them it reassures them they are safe and secure and don't have to worry about food.

yes. Ive already figured out the chopping everything up part Lol she Is the same, wont bother with ANYTHING that isnt small Lol.

She is the biggest baby! all she wants to do is snuggle, she hates to be put down. But mummy needs a break every now and then, My arms!!! They are so raw from her claws, cos Ive handled her so much and so often.

I keep worrying she isnt eating enough, But as EVERYONE is re-assuring me....just like any new mother. Im OVERLY worried, SHE IS EATING ALOT!! it's all in my head lol
