How quickly SIE grow!
Almost the same size as her mother already! Here is Roma at ten weeks in front, with Rosie who, because her head is turned, looks about the same size/age. (They were helping me in the kitchen yesterday)
![]() But, here is a picture taken today, where you can see both of their heads full on and it's much easier to see the difference in young Roma on the left. BTW, she has begun fledging and choosing which branches to play on. Notice how she chose the really small diameter branch. She stayed there for quite a while, after she moved to it from the bigger branches. I found this quite interesting since the branch bounces when she moves. ![]() Finally, here is Cleo, one of our 9 month old girls from Rosie and LaFitte's first clutch. She's sitting behind and above Rosie and Roma and appears to be disgruntled! Look at those feathers.

isn't it amazing the difference from 8 - 10 weeks? Something about the eyes look different in the babies though. Very beautiful girls you have there!

I think it's during their second year, but truthfully, I can't remember. The iris is still dark on both Cleo and Lucy who, like I said, are now 9 months old. The dark iris color makes the overall eye shape look different in the youngsters, doesn't it? Also makes their eyes look larger. Very difficult to detect eye pinning when the pupil and iris are about the same color! By the way, in case you didn't know, one of the ways to help identify the Eclectus subspecies is by the color of their irises which range from a light yellow-white to a reddish orange, especially in the males.
Examples: The Eclectus Parrot - Graham Taylor (Australia)

I had no idea, WOW you really do learn somthing new everyday! I know what you mean about it being hard to tell if their pupil's are pinned, Its kind of thrown me back a lil...............Takes ALOT of focus and the right lighting lol. But Ive picked up VERY fast on the rest of Savanah's body language, VERY different from other species of parrots thats for sure!!
