My brother is in a lot of trouble. About 2 years ago he was convicted with assault for hitting a man in the head with a beer bottle. He admited to that but he was provoked and he's had trouble with his temper for as long as I can remember. He was put on probation for 2 years as this was his first offence and because it was proven that he was provoked.
A few weeks back he was sentenced to 6 months in jail for another more serious assault and for breaking his probation. He was accused of cutting this guy with a broken beer bottle. I just don't know how the judge could give him that sentence since all the evidence showed that my brother didn't so it!
He had an alibi!
He had no motive!
He doesn't fit the witness' prescription!
All about this case is so weird! It so appears like he was framed and that it had been decided even before the trial that he was guilty.
His lawyer apparently didn't do his job very well. Someone recommended another old-school lawyer to my father for the appeal and he went over the case file and said he had never seen anything like it. He said it looked like the lawyer had failed him big time and didn't use half the arguments my brother and my father pointed out in their meetings.
I'm so mad right now I can hardly type this.

Just hoping that this new lawyer is a kick-ass one and can get this ugly mess all cleared up!

Hey there! I'm Brandy I'm 30 and I live in Pa . I do not own any birds yet as the title says, I had two budgies when I was younger and am considering having birds back in my life (I'm not sure what kind yet). I've been doing alot of searching online to see if one will fit in my life. I dont have any kids. I own two ferrets and one cat. The ferrets sleep approx. 21 hours per day, they have a large two story cage and when they are awake spend about 3 hours in my "ferret proofed" bathroom (unless they unferret proof it they get pulled out till I fix the situation, lol) I wouldnt at any point expect the bird and ferrets to be together or even know each other exists, but I have not found any information on people owning ferrets and birds in the same house, so my first question is.. Is this a livable sitation for a bird? oh and the cat is declawed in the front and back, and if needed could be put into another part of the trailer (3 bedroom 2 bathroom trailer) while the bird is out. So.. if anyone could give me some helpful advice. Should I stop looking into having fids? or is it a possibility?
Thanks in advance!

I've always had a dream to bring one home! And it's finally going to happen! xafsmom came highly recommended on this site so I emailed her and Tina has been incredibly awesome with her prompt responses to my novice emails!

After discussing a few things with her... she thinks she has her perfect couple/pair of Grey's to assist me on my dream! I thought maybe at first I wanted a Timneh because of their rumored cuddliness with more than one individual. But Tina says she has a Congo pair that is a bit smaller than most Congos and spawns "snuggle bug's" and "social butterflies!" So I told i'm sold! She is helping me pick out a very nice cage for him/her!

The baby isn't born yet so there is still a bunch of time for any of this to happen. The birds might not even mate right away! But the point is that i'm committing to my dream finally! I've read so much about these birds on this forum. I still have a ton to learn and will ask so many questions but I just wanted to share that I will be getting my final member of the flock and bringing her/him home within 5-7 months (hopefully!)

I went to pick up fruity supreme yesterday at the petsmart.... (It's on for half price cause they are changing the packaging) no complaint about the store or anything like that. The birds are kept clean and they even feed fruits and veggies.

But.... there is a black capped conure there, that has now been there for a year! I can barely stand it. He is so cuddly and sweet and just needs a home! The problem is they sell for around $400 at other pet stores. They are asking $600 for him, and they are firm on the price. Good Grief!

I may not go in there again for a very long time.

I did leave my number and said I had a spare cage and would be willing to give it to someone if they are interested in buying him. Not like that would happen though, they wand to make sales on the extras.

I thought some of you might enjoy this, especially the Sun owners.

I'm not particularly adamant about teaching Nara to speak or do tricks, but she seems to extremely enjoy playing/training sessions, so I just go along with it.

The first video shows her basic obedience training for stepping up and stepping down on command. She never ever fails to do this one right and will go up and down as many times as you ask her to. This training was very important for us because I move alot from room to room and I don't like her to stay on my shoulder, so I easily pick her up and set her down wherever I go without any fuss.

YouTube - Basic Step-Up Step-Down training

Another thing she learned to do is something I like to call the "hook" trick. Basically, I say "hook!" and she freezes her body and keeps her beak hanging forward so that when I pull my finger in front of her, she acts like a hook allowing her body to swing from my finger and then rest on her back. She loves doing this one and would do for many times before she wants to move to something else.

YouTube - Nara performs "Hook" trick

We're currently working on "fetch", but she still isn't sure what to do with the ball after she picks it up. Sometimes she brings it back to me and sometimes she runs to the edge of the bed and drops it. I will post a video when she gets that one right.

I posted here recently about wanting to get a larger bird. I have budgies. I had been thinking of a quaker, conure or caique. I got lots of good replies. Thanks!!!

Then I went to my vet yesterday. She has been my vet for 17 years and I love and respect her but she told me do NOT get a bigger bird until my daughter is older. She has a bird rescue (over 30 large parrots of all kinds) and she said that all larger birds would be mean to my 4-year-old. She said to stick with my budgies and enjoy them for a while. Or get a cockatiel she said. "Hey how about a chinchilla?" How did she go from Jenday conure to chinchilla? I was devastated. I felt like crying.

I am my own boss and will make my own decisions but I do want some extra input from you guys. I would never put my child in danger but she is very mature for her age. She has been handling budgies for a while now and she has never hurt one and doesn't jerk or pull away if one nips her. She knows all the rule about sticking your finger in front of their beaks and through cage wires.

Here she is with her budgie Odin (Odie).

Hi, Im Mary, and I am brand new to these forums. I have wanted a bird for as long as I can remember, so I have been doing quite a bit of research lately. I'm having a hard time finding the right bird for me, because there are just so many different kinds! Can anyone give me any suggestions as to what kind of bird I should get? Here are some of the things that I'm looking for in a pet bird:

- I would like a fairly large bird, not huge, I would say under 20 inches but over 12.

- I know that all birds can be very loud, but I would like a bird that is generally known to be fairly quiet.

- I would like the bird to be cuddly, but not necessarily laid back. I love curious and lively animals.

- I would looove to have a bird that can speak, but it is not a requirement. I know that even if you get a bird species that is known for speech, they still may not.

Those are pretty much my only preferences. Money or space is not really an
issue. I am very familiar with birds, but I have never owned one. I have had pets my entire life, of all different varieties, and I don't think that any bird that fits my constraints would be a problem for me. Also, I will probably not be getting said bird any time soon (maybe in a year or so), so I have plenty of time to research, and shop around for the bird that is right for me. I have been looking at African Greys, Hahn's Macaws, Severe Macaws, Cockatoos, Conures, Illiger's Macaws, Yellow Collared Nacaws, and Greenwing Macaws (though greenwings are rather big.)

Thank you so much, and any imput that you could give would be very much appreciated.

- Mary

She is being kept in anther cage for a while but she seems really sweet. She doesnt do well with stepping up and gets kind of nervous when I try to put my hand under her belly, but she is already adjusting well. :thumbup1:

This afternoon, it turned intoa full fledged mating ritual, for HER anyway!!!!.... I watched for a minuted, as I've not seen it up close and was really fascinated. Then I gave her a peanut to distract her and walked away.... she stopped.

I've only had FOUR days, count them 4~!!!!! Holy Moly!

Is there anythingelse I can do to put an end to this besides ignoring it or distracting her? Maybe choice of toys, light cycles ect ect????? What do you guys use?

THanks, Danielle

I took in a female yellow collared macaw a little more than a year ago as she would bite everyone (hard) at that time. She just turned 4 in July and now will let me cuddle her and give her kisses and scratch her head. She will still try to bite me if I startle her or scratch too hard, but she no longer bears down like she used to. The other birds, animals and people in my home still make her nervous. So, I think that after seeing her progress over the past year, that she would really thrive and become an even better bird if she was in a one bird (one animal) home. She has so much potential and has a great personality. If you or if you know of anyone who has worked with this breed and would be interested in taking her into their home, let me know.
