Nibbles has really started singing a lot more lately. He imitates the budgies so perfectly that I have to pause and wonder if it's him or the budgies- but he's louder. He imitates several of their calls including one that only a particular budgie makes. He has picked up a little tune that I have been whistling for him, and he also does his original whoo-hoo whistle that he did when we got him. He's sooo cute. I have not had a lot of luck getting the conures or budgies to talk. The conures will say a few things once in a great while, but Nibbles is the clear winner in our house as far as imitating sounds.

They won't be ready to go until about mid-january, so I won't get my Christmas baby until a few weeks after, but I (think) I can wait.

I've been looking for a male lutino and I was wondering what the probability is of the babies being lutino? This sounded like the best chance for a lutino baby so I told her we'd be in contact with her periodically between the babies being ready to go.

What do all you breeders on here think? I don't know too much about the genetics to know what would dominate over the other.

Thank you so much! I'm already itching for my baby to come home!

My brother who has the same kind of bird has also noticed similar symptoms but not as bad. Any great ideas? Is it possible the bird is too cold???

Hi Everyone,
I was gone on a business trip from Sun Morning – Weds Night.
I had my Brother in law watch my Tiel while I was gone. This was the first time my tiel and I were separated. He is in my Opinion just the sweetest bird. Anyway my BIL told me that while I was gone and he went into his cage to grab his food dish that Whistler Bit Him, not hard or anything though. I was pretty shocked. I did not handle him last night. It was late when I got home so I decided against it. I said HI to him and he seemed happy again. Whistled for me and said his normal “PrettyBird”. This morning I got up like normal and when I went to get Whistler he stepped up right away. Went on my shoulder and seemed very normal- Back to his sweet self. I hung out w/ him and fed him his Breakfast like normal too and he didn’t show any signs of aggression. I am assuming that he was scared that I was gone and that is why he did what he did. My BIL has handled him w/ me present and he never did anything like that before so I thought it wouldn’t be an issue. I do not travel much but I am thinking that next time I may just board him at a Bird Boarding Place. I am also thinking that if I do not have to fly taking him w/ me.
Any thoughts,advice would be appreciated.

Her birthday is September 17th, and she came home yesterday - DNA'd female. I waited 2 months until she was weaned and it was the longest 2 months of my life. lol!

I have some pictures, but they are ones her breeder sent me previously. I haven't taken her out of her cage as she is pretty intimidated being in her new home and I don't want to scare her by forcing her out and then attacking her with a camera, lol.

Anyway, here she is - my little whitefaced cinnamon pearl pied.

(she's the one on the bottom in this one)

I just love her. And I'm pretty sure Sumo, my other tiel, is smitten too, even though he hasn't actually seen her yet, just called to her from the other room.

The tip of the egg is very dark while the middle is kinda dark and the other end is light colored. Does this sound normal?

One if I move my head she screeches and pecks at me. two she sits there quietly in tell I bring my hand to get her off, witch then she screeches in tell she is off.
I bring her out every day for AT LEAST half an hour. However my mane concern is; I want to pet her, but she will screech and jump off my hand or where ever she is when I try to pet her. She has a broken toe but thats how I got her. I have two budgies and the will let me pet them and there just awesome so I have little experience with birds. So any help on this would be nice.

Now she is home I have put her were they can see each other but I'm scared, it won't be until christmas that she will be back with him.
Will they still love each other? It was so sweet:wub::wub:
Yes I know that sounds crazy, I just feel for them.

So I had an experience with a pet's store this weekend I have to tell you all...

Our local pet's store was having an adoption weekend and they had probably 3 times the amount of animals they usually do. One of which, was a baby lutino cockatiel. I asked one of the clerks if I could get him/her out and they said sure.

The bird ran from their hand and I told them it was fine that they didn't want to come out... it was really loud and crowded and I wouldn't have wanted to either. The girl said, "No, they've got to come out sometime" and full hand grabbed this poor bird and pulled it out of the cage, breaking a tail feather on the metal bars... my jaw dropped.

The bird flew away as soon as she lessened her grip and landed on my arm where he/she refused to move from, even for my other hand. Poor baby was terrified!

If I had a place for that bird, it would have gone home with me right then.

I put the 'tiel back in the cage myself to keep her from really hurting it by grabbing it like that again.

I've been ranting about this since it happened yesterday and I had to tell someone. I've never seen someone in a pet's store act that way, and I'm pretty sure it was the manager.

...Sorry, it made me so mad/sad I had to say something.

I came home today, to find my cockatiel sitting on the bottom of the cage with her feathers all puffed up and her facial expression looked much different. I wanted to take a look, I dont see anything physically wrong with her, only she's slightly less alert, she still is able to climb and walk, but whenever I see a bird on the bottom of the cage, it usually means a bad sign. I know birds are good at hiding problems, but I don't understand what couldve happened. Her cage is clean, she has a big environment, fresh food and water, and the door is closed so no cats can get in. She's been fine for over 8 months now since I first adopted her, any logical guesses?
