my mom's IRN is nicknamed "Johny" as in "heeeeeere's johny!" because of his aggression. this is unfortunate because i dont think hes a bad bird. real name Skye. he's blue you see. (he may be a girl though. no idea yet.)

weve had him since January, he was supposedly 5 months old or so. since i spend all my time at home, writing and whatnot... i often go down and talk to him. every time i pass by the cage tho he quickly ruffles his feathers and lunges at the cage. ive tried feeding him things he likes, letting him chew on robe bands through the bars, just standing there not looking at him directly... but he still does it.

when hes out of the cage he always tries to fly to me! as an example all i did was say "skye-bird" while sitting on the couch and he flew into the room. the dogs started barking like crazy and skye ultimately flew back to his cage.

on the one side it seems he likes me enough to want to be around me, but on the other he always bites... HARD. so he could also be trying to attack me. i genuinely dont know which.

i also scratch his head when hes out. (VERY CAREFULLY!) he makes a huge fuss, pinning his eyes and making squeeking noises. i try to time it in between the pinning/noises to stop and back off. i usually dont get bit. though this one day when the dogs had been barking he nicked my finger. he seems to enjoy it though and when i do back off he looks like he wants to be scratched more. (and throws another fuss when i do!)

i also play peekaboo with him. which is the only word he knows how to say. (though he'll also say MY name! my mom is so evil teaching the bird my name..)

i am sorry if there is information elsewhere answering this. as i mentioned it isnt really my bird and i feel sorry for him never being interacted with. (my mom works all day and doesnt touch him at all. my step dad works similiar long days and doesnt try to handle the birds at all. he talks to skye a lot though.)

personally i deal with my Green-cheek conure usually but i know they are VERY different types of personalities. any advice would be welcome.

I've been spraying her with warm water every day, but is there something else I can do for her to help? Is there a special food I can buy? I also have a cockatiel and I usually buy molting food for her when the time comes, and that seems to help. Thanks!

Here is a brief glimpse of yesterdays visitors. Just a few seconds but enough to show you they are a real flock . No photoshop here, will upload more later, and you will hear how noisy they were. Their total visit was for approximately 15 minutes, they are so green that sometimes they are here and we can barely see them but boy can we hear them.
Here you can see them for a longer duration after they reurned to the tree. Are they not just beautiful? Imagine 8 wild ones and my 14 ? Lots of noise. Quite deafening actually. Those decibels.
This morning however there was the one male who usually visits accompanied not by the usual three females, but by seven !! No kidding aroung, for those who own IRNs you know how loud they can be so imagine this my 14 yelling at the 8 wild ones while they were all flying around the trees. Imagine a total of 22 ringnecks all calling out to each other. Sort of like the noise in the movie THE BIRDS from a long time ago. They did manage to sit still long enough for me to snap a few pics from the bedroom window on the second floor. What a racket. Also here is a picture of the Robins which visit each winter. This picture is of one, but there is a pair. I'll try to get them together.

So I'll be a first time bird owner, and I'm thinking about getting an Indian ringneck. I'm having some problems finding reliable information about them as pets though.

1. Do you think they're good for a first time bird owner, or are they a more difficult parrot to own?

2. Are they difficult to train and do they have nippy tendencies even when taken out of their cage everyday? (which is my intention)

3. How would you rate their noise level?

4. I'm finding price ranges for a green Indian Ringneck from $50 - $100. What is typical?

I'm sorry for the very general questions, but I'm having trouble finding consistency with my own research.

The cage I think I would use is 26x26x36, but I plan on having him out at minimum an hour each day.

Any advice and experiences you can share with me would help!
Thank you!
