My parrotlets were eating abba cockatiel seed mix with added safflower and dark oil sunflower seeds (Sonny's personal favorite), hagen tropi mix for lovebirds, and fresh fruit and veggies. At my fids last yearly vet check , about 6 weeks ago, I was advised to switch my parrotlets to a pelleted diet but to still give them some seed and cut back on the amount of fruit. I mentioned to her that I had read that parrotlets (colored varitations in particular) do not do well on a pelleted diet. She assured me that it was ok. So, I took her advice. Now I give them zupreem parakeet pellets both fruit and natural and roudy crumbles, and a very small amount of the dark oil sunflower seeds and a few tablespoons of TOP's organic napoleon seed mix and fresh fruit and veggies. However, I noticed that Sonny, my yellow american, seems different. Nothing I can exactly put my finger on. Do you think it could be the diet change? Should I stop the pellets?

As has already been seen here I'm sure; I'm about to get a parrotlet. Before I go through with this very long term commitment, I decided it would be best for me to hear the WORST things about owning a parrotlet. Every bit of research I do talks about how great they are, which is why I want one, but I also want to be prepared for what I'm getting into! So here are my questions.
1. what is the hardest part of owning a bird?
2. what is the worst personality trait of your parrotlet?
3. what annoys you the most about your bird?
4. how often do you have to clean up for your bird?
5. How often have you had to take your bird to the vet?
6. How much money would you say has been spent (involuntarily) on your bird?

Thank you in advance to all of you wonderful people who obviously know so much and are willing to help a sister out!
