Please help peaches find his way home

PLEASE HELP US FIND PEACHES. Peaches is a 15 year old cockatiel bird who has been missing since June 13th. His flight out of the safe confines of our home was a horrible accident and happened within a matter of seconds. His head and crest are yellow, he has orange cheeks and he has some grey around his beak. His stomach is pale yellow with a couple of patches of pale grey on the upper part of his stomach. His wings are dark grey with patches of white and his wings are white tipped. He is grey and pale yellow and white on his back and his tail feathers are white, yellow and grey. He also responds to Pete or Peetie and says "Pretty Birdie" to the best of his ability. We have done everything humanly possible to find him. Every agency has been notified and renotified and we have posters everywhere. We have followed every lead and have looked at over 20 cockatiels in the past three months and have taken two cockatiels in that people have found and couldn't keep. At this time we are trying to reunite them with their families. Please if you have seen Peaches or you know where he is Please let us know. We are offering a LARGE REWARD for any assistance in getting him home safely again. We have more information on 911parrotalert and on the Chicago area craigslist.

Im so sorry to hear about peaches. I will keep you in my thoughts, I cant imagine how hard this is for you. Birds and animals in general have a funny way of showing up when we least expect it - dont lose hope!!! *hugs*

Thank you for your kind words.
The weather is getting cooler now, and the days are getting shorter. So, I am worried for Peaches. As much as he loved people, I am assuming he has approached someone by now. Hopefully someone kind who will care for him.
I've posted everywhere and notified everyone in all of the surrounding counties and communities. I check flea markets where they sell cockatiels also.
I have prayed and I have done everything humanly possible to find Peaches. It is in God's hands now.....

I'm not sure how to post yet so I'm hoping I'm doing it correctly.
I am devastated by the loss of my cockatiel, Peaches. He was my whole world for 15 years and my first bird. I have written an article regarding my search for Peaches and it has been printed by a couple of bird rescue websites.
Losing Peaches has opened up a whole new world to me. I had no idea how many brick walls I would run up against. I have encountered wonderful people. But there are those who take advantage of your heartbreaking situation. I could write a book about the questionable situations and about the questionable people that I have run up against. I have had phone calls from people who have said that they have eaten my bird and that he tasted like chicken, and from people who have stated that they have found my bird and that if I didn't claim him within 48 hours they would kill him. Of course, the number shows up as PRIVATE. And it gets worse.
So, in many ways I understand why people give up. The search becomes emotionally exhausting and you end up feeling like you're spinning your wheels.
Also, people turn in birds to pet stores who place them up for adoption, some stores pay a small sum of money to people and then place the bird up for sale, many rescues place found birds up for adoption without trying to find the bird's family. Also, there are people who claim they are bird rescues and then 'rehome' the bird for a price. Then there are those who find a bird and go out and buy a bird cage. It's the Finders Keepers logic.
All of us who own birds know that bird's are very intelligent and have a strong bond with
their families.
Peaches flight out of our door was a horrible accident. My daughter feels terrible because she opened the garage door to get something out of her car. My husband has a tremendous amount of guilt because he opened the door from the house to the garage and Peaches flew out and panicked. We always kept Peaches's wings clipped but were late doing it this time. In a matter of seconds, your whole world has changed.
What do people do when they lose a loved one and don't know where they are? This is the first time in my life when I have been able to closely relate to those feelings..

My son has had 2 escapees. One was never heard from again but the other adapted to the wild (they are native here) This bird swoops him in his back yard a couple of times a year and they do this whistle reply thing he taught him. It was 5 years ago that he escaped.

Sometimes we just have to let go and hope they were found by someone who is now caring for them, as we will never know. Hugs
