Nazir's ~ December 2007
How did you become involved with Birds?
I have a crazy love for animals. Sometimes I wish that I was as lucky as Noah on the Ark. Though, I would care to clean up after all of those pairs. *I worked with several animals (birds included) as an animal adoption counselor/vet assistant for my local Humane Society. In addition to that, I've always wanted a bird since childhood but was always very reluctant due to their special needs, care, and the responsibility that I knew I'd be taking on by being the care giver of a bird. What made you want to share your life with birds? Their under estimated and misunderstood intelligence. How long have you been an avian caretaker? I am fairly new to this world. I obtained my first parrot in July 2007. To date, it's only been five months. They still have lots to teach me! What species do you currently care for? I am owned by a female Congo African Grey (iris) and a male Solomon Island Eclectus (Clover). What do you love most about your birds? I love the most their beauty, intelligence, and antics. Do you have a favorite bird book and why? I love them all! What I may not be able to find in one I can find in another and for that reason, they are all my favorites. I have a closet full (Including Birds for Dummies). LOL Which bird magazines do you buy/subscribe to? Bird Talk Do you belong to any bird clubs? I don't but I have an interest to one day join one locally. I feel that it's beneficial to socialize, mingle, and learn from others who may share similar interest. That's why I obtain and enjoy the pleasures of being a member of the BirdBoard. I haven't been able to find any bird clubs locally. Do you have a special story of a feathered one you would like to share? Well, I won’t go into long details but my CAG poses for the camera. It's funny every time. You can’t tell her she’s not a Diva! What is the best piece of advice you can offer new parronts that you have learned through trial and error? At this point there is not anything that I can recall learning from trial and error. However, I would like to advise novice to listen to those who have come before them. It's not always easy to recreate the wheel and it only takes more work, time effort, and trials which may lead to error. Enjoy your feathered friends and don’t ever take them for granted. Any closing thoughts? Well, this comes as a surprise to me. I would not have ever guessed it. in fact, I didn't know such a thing existed (Member Spotlight). It's nice to be recognized for my efforts. Sharing information has always been a blessing to me, as it's my preferred method of learning. Helping others has always helped me. Apparently, I followed in someone's footsteps and I hope that someone will follow in ours. This is a awesome board with awesome members. Guys, keep up the good work! __________________
