ROYJOY ~ March 2008

How did you become involved with Birds?
a neighbor got me interesed in zebra finches, when she showed me her chicks, and how easy it was to raise them, but i wanted a bird that i could more easily interact with, so i started researching about hookbills, found, and rescued my sun from craigs list, someone gave me some love birds, another person gave me some lovebird chicks to hand raise, and didnt want them back. then i wanted a tiny one so i started reading the p'let forum, and got one, then i wanted a huge one, so i started reading the macaw forum, now i have a GW. im done, i have a full load now.

What made you want to share you life with birds?
birds are easier to deal with than people, or children. im not a people person.

How long have you been an avian caretaker?
a little over a year.

What species do you currently care for?
i have a blue p'let, 2 peachfaced lovebirds, a sun conure, and a green winged macaw.

What do you love most about your birds?

they offer unconditional love, and dont ask too many questions.

Do you have a favourite bird book and why?

no. im not a good reader. all my time is for my birds. no time to read. i only read this forum at work, cause my birds arent here. i do look up things on the web, if i have questions, i cant get answers for here, but thats rare. this board is a well of knowlege.

Which bird magazines do you buy/subscribe to?
no magazines either. see above.

Do you belong to any bird clubs?
no. no time.

Do you have a special story of a feathered one you would like to share?
i was able to give free, outdoor, flight to my sun conure after much indoor training. i was insired by a couple members here.

What is the best piece of advice you can offer new parronts that you have learned through trial and error?
research as much information you can find before you get the bird.

Care to share who else shares your life? Pets/Family?
just my birds and me against the world.

Any closing thoughts?
............help stop deforrestization.
