Strange Behaviour

I have a cockateil who is displaying very strange behaviour that I have not seen one do before. He goes all stiff points his tail straight out and makes a strange sqeeky chirping noise, he does it every now and then, it's almost like he is trying to get your attention by striking this pose and making this noise.
Is that all it is???Has anyone elses bird done this before and if so do you know why????(Felix is healthy)

I have a cockatiel, bright yellow face with orange cheek patch, and just about every single day since I've had this bird (3 years old June 27th, I believe, I've had since this bird was 6 months old) it has put itself in a flat body position with tail up, making these squeaky noises. It sounds familiar as to what your cockatiel is displaying.

The only thing I know for sure is that this bird with a bright yellow face and a bright orange cheek patch is a female. I have never done DNA sexing, nor have I had to. Her name is Casey, and I know that Casey is a female because she has pearls (males usually loose all of their pearls, even though some males are starting to keep theirs now-a-days), and even though her tail feathers are completely yellow, she DOES have two that are barred underneath, she makes these female display behaviors, and for the fact that she has laid 3 eggs in the past (all infertile, I only have one 'tiel after all!). And she does all of this because she is, to put simple, horny. She'll even rub her rear end against items.

So, my main questions are, how old is Felix, what does he look like, and, are you sure that Felix is a male????? I've been questioned before about the sex of my cockatiel (and to say, I really don't know why, as it was a friend who had asked me and she knows a lot about birds as well), and I know for sure. Many female cockatiels can look like males with bright yellow/white faces (or clear) like the males, and there are males who are starting to keep most of their pearls looking like females.

Now if you are 115% positive (not 100% or less) Felix is a male, then maybe he is gay?? (I've got a male budgie who feeds another male budgie, who in turn feeds a male bourke, no moves or anything onto the female bourkes, I've even had the first male budgie trying to mate with a previous male budgie... it really didn't work out... and to say, I'm sure that my male bourke has shown female mating behaviors as well, which is one thing I can't explain).

Birds! They really are interesting creatures, who we still are unable to understand!!! Must be why they are so intriguing...

Sounds like you've got yourself a cute baby! It sounds like Felix may be female with the behavior that he/she has been displaying.

Anyway, have fun with your new baby and many happy years to the both of you!
