Lovebird going bald.

Sorry if this is considered a double post. But I need a quick answer to see if I need to take my bird to the vet or not.

My lovebird who's always have a full head of feathers is starting to lose almost all of his feathers on the top of his head. He scratches is a bit more than usual and yeah, why's he losing feathers? I'll try to post a picture of him later, but the top of his head is like white now due to all the missing black feathers.

Please help!

Yes, you should take him to the vet. Birds (well, parrots anyway) aren't supposed to lose enough featheres in one area to make them bald. The fact that those feathers are on his head makes it obvious that he's not plucking them out himself. There are a lot of health issues that could cause feathers to fall out... best get some bloodwork done.

The other possibility is that if he has a cagemate, the cagemate could be plucking him.
