He doesn't want to go back in his cage

My Senegal,Buddy, doesn't want to go back in his cage after I have had him out . I do exactly what I'm supposed to do(I think) I come up behind the perch and keep the perch in front of his chest so you'd think he HAS to just climb onto the perch...right? well, Buddy turns his entire body around...neck, and chest, and climbs back on my arm and starts cooing. he obviously does not want to go back, but be with me. He just keeps purring, cooing, until I finally have to literally pick up his entire body with my left hand and put him on the perch. It really makes me feel bad to do this becasue I know he wants to just be held and loved. I'd keep him with me all the time except we have 12 cats and three dogs who also need my love and attention.
Any ideas?

I always put a favorite treat into my birds' food dish when I need them to go back in their cage. Makes them more willing to go in, most of the time.

When you put your arm in the cage, try pushing your arm against one of the top corners of the door. That way, if he tries to climb back up your arm, he'll run right into the cage bars above the door, and if he tries to go around, he'll run into the bars on the side of the door.

Just hold him and put him in the cage while you tell him something like "go home"

that is why when i say go home my birds go back to their cage or stand, you dont have to be mean about it but be firm and your bird will learn.
