Hi Dawn, I noticed you're from London - so am I! I knew you had to be British because you said your canary was 'poorly' - Americans don't say that. Where are you in London? I'm in Southeast London, in New Cross.

I hope your canary gets better. If you find another avian vet, let me know, because although I like mine, he is so far away, and I'm trying to find another one closer.

Best wishes,
Michele and Humphrey

hiya, i am in north london near holloway road. i have been going to the rspca in seven sisters road, they gave him a anti inflammatory injection yesterday and today he seems to have perked up no end, he has had his bath and his breakfast and is up and about seems to have got his bearings back, and seems more alert so maybe that did the trick, i have to take him back tomorrow so the vet can see how he is getting on.

Hi Dawn! I used to teach at University of North London, right where you are, a few years ago!
Small bird world. I just saw the pic of your canary - he's lovely.

Welcome to the board, Dawn! I hope your canary is better.

About the food issue-I had never thought of that. I was buying my seed from a produce store and they do have birds for sale. The seed is in wheelie bins with a lid but maybe could still get infected. Anyway I stopped going there because I can now get enriched cockatiel mix (Trill brand) at the supermarket for only a couple dollars more in 5 kg bags. More convenient, faster (produce store service is very slow) and now it seems to be more sanitary as well.

hello with a heavy heart

sad news im afraid, since he had the injection it has worn off and he has been worse than ever, got to the point where he couldnt even stand up anymore, he was just falling over all the time and today sadly the vet put him out of his misery.
so i would like to say thankyou to everyone who gave me tips and advice over the past month.
Dawn
