Yankee Candle Scents

I have a Yankee candle plug in(not aloud to burn candles in the dorm) is it okay for my birds. I don't want it to hurt them in the Freebreeze kind of way.

I love yankee candles, but once getting the fids I had to give them up.
Where is your plug in located? It is near the birds or on the other end of the dorm room?

Nope plugins are just as bad as candles IMO. Sorry. Same with rug freshners and the like. Anything that is scented .

That is a good subject, how to make your house smell good without hurting the birds.

I buy organic dried lavender which works like Potpourri. When I have a party I boil some water with cloves, cinnamon sticks and even lemon or orange rinds to make the house smell good.

I will also cut lemons in half and leave them on a dish on the table. Half a lemon scents a bathroom very nicely. I have a backyard with a huge lemon tree so that makes lemons very disposable to me.

I found the best air freshner is fresh pellets poured into everyones bowl LOL My family room has the refreshing fragrance of fruity zupreem.

Baking powder freshens the rug. I sprinkle the baking powder on the rug. Let it sit for a time ( with no one walking on it) and then vaccum it up.

Well actually potpourii they sell in the stores is not good either because it contains essential oil. Same with the cinnamon brooms you find in the grocery store in the autumn. All are oil scented

Natural scents like rose petals or dried lavender is fine as long as no oils have been added to them.

If you like the scent of apple pie or pumpkin pie, you can simmer some spices. Also, a cinammon stick, orange rinds and cloves give off a lovely holiday scent.

If you like the scent of pine, you can simply bring in some cuttings and place them in a basket.

There are lots of scents that are safe. Some of the lemon, vanilla, orange and other extracts smell quite good. Experiment. Don't use essential oils however. Buy your scents in the baking supplies aisle of your grocery store.

I don't use any synthetic purfumes, cleaners, ect., but I do burn unscented candles after I put Tiki to bed. Soy candles are supposed to burn much cleaner. Are they ok? I LOVE simmering cinammon and nutmeg. It smells delicious...even better than a yankee candle!!
Tiki..."Yankee" is just a brand. They just have lots of yummy flavors and burn longer than average. Nothing special really.

Just wondering if incense burned in another room is ok?? We have started using our fireplace and haven't had any problem -- we make sure it is all burned down before closing the flue. But I love incense -- the bird is in my studio at one end of the house. Can incense be burned in a different room?
