Can anyone tell me if it is true that I should not have loud noise around my birds. I have Sun Conures in the house and was told I cannot vaccum around them because the noise is not good for them . Java

Sudden loud noises can scare them and some birds will be afraid of things like vacuum cleaners. My conure is absolutely terrified of my DustBuster but he does not mind my larger vacuum. He starts with his "frightened" screech whenever he sees the DustBuster- as long as I keep it hidden from his view, he's ok with it, haha, the poor thing.

I don't think it would be good to expose any bird to constant loud noise, but I don't think the sound of a vacuum cleaner would be damaging in any way. Heck, think about how loud a flock of sun conures would be in the wild.... that's a LOT louder than a vacuum and most any other normal household sound.
