Red bumps on eyelids???????

Hi, Gypsy RFM has little red bumps above her eyelids. I'm thinking it may be an allergic reaction to something, not sure. The only thing different is the blanket she snuggles up to at nite. I'm almost sure I used softner in the wash as I generally do so maybe this is whats bothering her. Also, she is molting, new red pinfeathers coming in around her head oh and I did have her in the room with a Tiel, TAG and Budgie but have since moved the Tiel and Budgie out of the Birdroom. The Tiel gave off lots more dander than the TAG does. I have a hepafilter in the room by Harleys cage and I don't notice dander on the cages or window sill. Has anyone had their macaw show this type of symptom from anything? I was going to watch her this weekend and if not better take her to the vet Monday. Any thoughts??
Thank you for your help....

I have 5 macaws and none have had that particular problem. However, I think your description of a new detergent or softener is likely the cause for the rash.

Do know, however, that macaws can and do get acne. I know that sounds funny, but they do. Not sure about the eyelids.

If your bird is eating well, has normal poop and in all other ways seems fine, I'd remove the offending fabric and re-wash it using no softener.

If, however, Monday comes and any further symptoms arise, at least call your vet and let them decide whether or not a visit is needed. I also believe that an allergic reaction should be on the mend after 3 days. Good luck and please keep us posted. That is how we all learn.

It might be a good idea to give a good bath and see if it relieves any redness. And removing that blankie for a rewash would be a good idea too.

I didn't know they got zits!

Please do keep us informed as to what you find out from your vet.
