If by "get along" you mean live peacefully in the same cage, the answer is probably not. Finches are very difficult to tame and are very active. Budgies can be aggressive about their homes and would not make good cagemates for finches. Also, most finches are much smaller than budgies and, consequently, would not fare well if the budgie decided to attack.

If you keep them in their own cage and out of the budgies' way, then there is no problem with owning both species of birds. I have a couple of budgies and 8 finches in my flock, but they are in different cages.

I mean they will not sit on your finger or want to interact with you like a parrot will. Sometimes you can train a finch to sit on your finger and not fear humans, but by and large they will never become tame and will always be somewhat scared of you. They will almost always have to stay in a cage or aviary.

With finches, it's easier to handle them as chicks as they grow, as it can be too stressful on them when they are adults to try and tame them.

I have finches and parakeets, and they don't live in same cage. I am able to let my finches out for about 15 minutes a day to flock around the room and put them back. I tried letting the keets out with them, but one keet is aggressive toward them, so he had to be caged for a few minutes til the finches were put away again. Finches are kinda spasticly full of energy. But I enjoy their chattering, they are lovely to listen to......
