Grey and Budgie??

Hope is my baby budgie who has become a real lover-boy.
Gracin is my (new) 6 year old adopted TAG.
Hope trys and trys so hard to fly to Gracin's cage but it is too far away.
Gracin sings to Hope and makes kissy noises.
I let gracin and Hope get close to each other and they played a little bit. It didn't seem rough but I think that Gracin doesn't realize how big she is and tried to hop around Hope Scaring him half to death. Hope still wants so badly to play with Gracin.

My Question: Can a budgie and a TAG get along and play together without it ending in tragedy? I know Hope wants to be her friend. If so how do I go about properly introducing them to each other safely?

I agree with Jodi. Not only because of the size difference, but because of temperment differences.

A TAG may *seem* much more laid back and less excitable or agressive, but a budgie can be a real pain in the butt when it comes to being aggressive or territorial... like most smaller birds can be.

Quakers, Cockatiels, even love birds will exhibit that "short man syndrome" AKA; the Napolian complex and go after birds 3 or 4 times their size.
They may not be able to do much damage, but once they push the larger bird beyond tolerance, there could be real trouble.

By the way, Kati, I'm curious, whose bird is that in your avatar?

My nanday got a double skull fracture from my umnbrella cockatoo. They had been coming out together for years when one day the Too lashed out when the nanday scared her. I was right there , It happened so fast there was nothing I could do to stop it. Please don't let your two socalize. It can lead to heart break. Below is a photo of Zorro the day I brought him home from the vet. It took plastic surgery to get his head looking halfway normal again.

Well Lyn, I think your post says it all --
and much more effectively as well!

Glad your little Zorro is OK now.
How long has it been since his ordeal?

I didn't understand your question Savvy.
Sorry.

To All,
THANK YOU so much for the advice. Really it didn't seem like harmful play but now I know better.
Thanks,
Katie

Lynn, Thank God the Nanday is ok now. Kiss him for me

Kati,
You keep mentioning a budgie but the picture under your name
<----- is of a cockatiel... so I was wondering whose bird it was.
(Unless for some reason you call cockatiels "budgies"??)

Sorry for the confusion

Savvy,
I am sorry about that.
That was my heart. Cowboy. I lost him terribly. It was mentioned under the "bird Talk" Section. "My babies died suddenly".
I had him for 6 years and he was the best most amazing angel. He woke me every morning with kisses. He would actually fly onto the bed and beg for me to kiss him. Here is a picture of us.
I think it will explain it all. I miss him so much.

Thanks Savvy,
It will be two years in Febuary, and Zorro is doing fine.
