New noises and behavors

These are probably silly questions, but Oscar my 5 month old gold capped conure has changed his tune so to speak. I have had him for about 2 months now and bbout 2 weeks ago he began sort of chirping and making high pitched little noises a ton more while playing and when he settles down for a nap or to go to sleep. I think these are happy noises since he also clicks his beak a lot, but I just want to make sure.

Another thing is that he has been molting lately and I have been giving him scritches on his head and trying to help him get the covers off of the feathers on his face a lot lately. He pretty much loves this and closes his eyes and fluffs up a lot. Yesterday I was doing this and he began to head bob really fast and then he threw up on me....I know that they sometimes try to feed the person or bird that they have bonded to, but i dont know if he was doing this to feed me or if he is sick. He hasnt done it since, but it kind of tweaked me out.

Anyway, I know theyre probably silly questions, but any advice would be appreciated. I don't think I can ever be too careful when it comes to him. Thanks!

Are you sure Oscar is 5 months? That seems young for a breeding related behavior like regurgitation.Throwing up for a bird is more serious than it is for mamals. If this happens again without a stimulus[preening etc]I would get that bird to an avian vet.In fact, you could just call the vet to ask about it.

He might be older, but only by a few months. I will call a vet first thing in the morning just to be sure.

My conure did throw up once[not regurgitation]from eating fruit that had been left in his cage too long.He bobbed, then shook his head and flung the vomit in all directions.Regurgitation usually looks calmer that that....Head bob, followed by placing of a glob of food in one spot.Hope it's just a behaviour thing.

Well, he hadn't had any new/old foods that I know of, but I will have to ask my room mate...she tends to not ask before she does things with my animals :( I am extremely particular about what I feed him. He did kind of fling it. hopefully it doesn't happen again! I did call the vet and he said while Oscar is a bit young, its not unheard of...I hope he is right. In the mean time, I will keep and even closer eye on him.

The new noises sound like happy noises to me too.
