New Tiel Owner ... Any Advice?
I just purchased a hand raised Lutino Tiel. Yousel is only 8 weeks old. I have only had him for 3 short days but we are bonding fabulously. I am already noticing some of his quirky tendencies and have fallen in love with him. I am looking for any tips that you can all offer me. Anything on bonding, feeding, training, socializing, toys. I am not totally new to birds, I had budgies when I was younger. But I do realize this is going to be much different. I look forward to the challenge of raising an smart well behaved yet playful tiel.

Sounds like everythings going good for you...CONGRATS ON YOUR NEW ADDTITION! :D
A tip for training and bonding: birds function better during both of these times when put on a routine. I know we've covered a lot of things with new 'tiel owners in the cockatiel forum...you may wanna read up there too :D

I have to cockatiels. My male loves to come out of the cage. My female will not come out at all. I would like to know what I can do to get her out of the cage.

I have two cockatiels. Little Man loves to come out of the cage. Baby Girl will not come out. I need advice on how to get her to come out so that I can show her that I am not bad.

|
An 8 week old tiel is a toddler bird and has a lot in common with a toddler human. Be ready for a lot of high-intensity exploration and chewing on everything in sight, including your fingers. The biting isn't malicious, your baby just has to prove to himself that they aren't edible. It'll be awhile before the idea of 'rules' starts to sink in, and you'll have to do a lot of baby-sitting until the bird is more mature.

dont wanna hijack a thread, but since this is about a new cockatiel, what is this continuous "queeeeeeeee........." sound accompanied by head bobbing when you picked him up ? something he needs, something uncomfortable ?
