Ughh, Bugs!

You know those tiny little flies...maybe they're fruit flies...but teeny tiny...and they gather over fresh fruit/veggies after, like, 1/2 hour?
Well, I seem to have those all around my CAG's dishes.

The fruit/veggies only stay out a max of 2 hours, and then I wash all the dishes. But the bugs are all still there!

Any of you have this issue? Any suggestions?

(I think this bothers me way more than the bird!)

You should try only leaving out fresh foods for a short period of time (i.e. 15 mins at a time). Instead of tossing out the food, put it into a ziplock back, and leave it out during the night. In the morning you should be able to close the bag up and toss it. Repeat this every night for 2 weeks. Also, make sure to clean up the cage after fresh food is fed.

OR....

You can also try getting a 2 liter plastic bottle (or smaller, but whichever works for you), cut the top off so when you turn it upside down (where the bottle opening points down into the bottle) it fits snug. Tape down the edges, and either put some cider vinegar or red wine at the bottom (about 1/2 an inch or so of the liquid). Leave this out where the fruit flies are seen most often, and do until they are gone.

Thanks!

I actually found the ziplock baggie trick on the net and tried it last night...I only saw one fly today!
Thanks so much for answering!

May be coming from his food

I always put bird food in the freezer for a day or two after I buy it.
Once or twice I had bugs in it...the freezer did the trick.
