Conure thinks she's a chicken~HELP please

my 6 year old jenday suddenly and without any seeming "reason" started laying eggs, i've had parrots nearly all my life and have NEVER had one that lays like this confused lil bird, i dont have another parrot, my orange wing passed away 2 years ago and CiCi is the "baby" of the family, she's well rounded and likes all the members of the family and doesnt SEEM to prefer or bond with one of us more than the other, we havent changed diet or location/sunlight hours or her schedule. with all my other parrots i removed thier eggs and let them "nest" fake ones for a week or so and they lost interest, with her that didnt work, we are now up to 7 eggs in 2.5 months. i am supplying extra calcium and have tried everything i know, any ideas, i am getting desperate here folks

We had a cockatiel that used to lay eggs for a few months but she stopped after a while. She wasnt protective of them or anything she would just lay them and leave them. Our ducks on the other hand used to attack you if you went near them (they were both girl ducks..idiots) but they she may eventually stop. if you dont want her to lay eggs dont give her any nesting stuff (that didnt stop our tiel but she got over it).

You may need to change your environment and habits a bit.

If you're petting her, stop. That's very stimulating.

Gradually reduce the amount of daylight to 10 hours.

Rearrange everything in her cage so she has to concentrate on what belongs where rather than on egg-laying.

Move the cage to a different part of the room or even to a different room.

If you have a mirror in her cage, remove it. That's another stimulant.

Honestly, I'd call and ask your vet about it. Maybe get him to look into some blood work to make sure the fids not suffering any deficiencies as egg laying takes a lot out of them. Seven eggs... WOW!

I read somewhere just recently that birds will lay eggs to eliminate excess calcium from their bodies. Not sure if it's true, but you might call a vet and ask, or check around online and find out for sure. Good luck. :)
