I hate to be a pest, but I need to know...

What is your opinion....

Do I get a separate cage for my green cheek (separate from the cockatiel)

OR

Do I get a large cage and keep them both together with enough space so they don't have to be on top of one another?

They are together now, been together for 2-3 days (bought the gcc Saturday), tiel is not being very nice...hissing and squawking if gcc gets too close. I was hoping they'd learn to get along, don't know how long that would take, and haven't gotten any feedback from anyone here re: tiels and green cheeks together.

I need to make a decision in the next couple of days re: buying a cage, so any feedback from this forum would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Sue

Seperate, give them their own space so when you get them out to play they will behave better, also you dont want them to get attached to eachother and not to you.

Personally I think it is important to have their own cages. And if the cockateil is already upset......

I don't know. I just think that if they wanna be buddies and play on a stand or something, cool. But their own cages are a good thing for them to have.

Is the GCC a baby? Cuz ya don't really know how he will act when he is older either..

I agree with all posts here. Separate cages for each, with playtime (supervised) together.

Separate cages, definitely. There's never any guarantee that birds of the SAME species will get along, and it's more complicated with birds of different species. Conures generally have bigger beaks than tiels (if I remember correctly) so if they got into a physical fight the tiel could be in a lot of danger.

They might still get along well out of the cage, but you'll need to supervise them.

separate - gcc and tiels have about the same beak size, but i'd be cautions because you never know if they get along... gcc's can also be quite energetic
