You can see if there are any avian vets that will do DNA sexing for you, or check out http://www.avianbiotech.com for a free kit. The blood from nail may be the easiest though some prefer to pluck the feathers...

Try www.dnanow.com or www.dnasolutions.com.au

I think it's the same company and they have branches all over the world.
I prefer the feather testing to the blood testing-just easier to pluck a feather. The results were very accurate. Don't go to a vet for surgical sexing-no point in cutting the bird only for that and making him have anasthesia. Always risks involved with that.

When I took my Abby to his first vet check I just asked if they could have him DNA sexed, and they simply took some blood for me and had it sent off. Of course, my vet is well known in my area as an expert avian vet, so I am not sure if this is something all vets would do.

Well, you could have saved AT LEAST $40 by clipping on toenail a tad short, collecting a blood drop and sending it off yourself to Avian Biotech. Its about $20 for the service.

He only charged me $30 ... I felt more comfortable with him doing it as I was so new to birds, and I still don't feel that comfortable clipping Abby's nails - I usually go visit my breeder.
