Reccomended steamers?

I'm hoping to get some advice on the steamers out there. I've heard a lot about them in general on an email list I'm on, and they sound wonderful. I've heard that it makes cleaning cages SO much easier (and faster), with no chemicals of any kind, and they disinfect to boot.

I've been looking at the "Scunci" steamer and came upon a site with some very bad reviews for it. Out of 13 only 2 sounded good enough to even consider buying it. I also looked into the "Euro Pro" steamer and that didn't sound much better. I'm looking for something that won't take up a lot of space (my bed room is getting kinda packed now) but will make the monthly cage CLEANING a little bit easier, and more effective, than hot hot water and lots of scrubbing.

I asked this question a while back; the Euro Pro actually seemed to be the steamer of choice. However, when I went to the sears internet site they are completely out. I, too, need a steamer as I get tired of rearranging the living room to get the cages outside; one cage is so wide I have to take the door off of the bird room to get it through.

steamer

My daughter got me a "Steam Fast" from QVC. It works really well, and
the price was lower then a lot of them.
A steamer makes cage duty much quicker.
During the summer I like to take the cage outside and scrub it, but it's snowing a lot, so that doesn't work out to well.
The steamer cuts cleaning time in half for me.
I use the attachment with a little scrubby brush for those..uh, stubborn
stains! :o)

A friend of mine tried the scuncci and said it took too long to heat and cool down and the hose was too shart.

We bought the EuroPro Shark2 from Sears it works great. Never even looked at their web site, LOL!! We have a Sears real close by so went there. This thing has cleaned not only our cages, but my oven and shower, floors and even does the windows with a squeegee attachment.

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. My mom is going crazy getting me to tell her what I want for Christmas (because she insists on still buying for the "kids") but I don't want her spending good money on something that I won't use. The main complaints I've read are: Steam comes out of the trigger button when it's pushed--burning the user, The attachments get to hot to change during use, Takes too long to clean a large are because of warm up/cool down, It doesn't steam for longer than 15minutes--which I thought was kinda understandable considering the amount of water being used. Others said the item just flat out didn't work. I'm going to look into the ones mentioned here and see what I can find, but have you noticed any of those issues with your steamers? I'm more concerned about the being burned than the amount of time it takes.

Thanks again!

Vega:

I recommended the Shark Euro Pro to Tammy. I've had mine for 2 years and I love it. I had the steam buggy before and was dissapointed. I did have a problem with steam leaking through the handle on the first one I got, but BJ's Wholesale Club exchanged it without any problems about 2 months of use. This one has been doing a great job since then.

I can clean about 4 large macaw cages on one fillup. Frankly, by then I'm pooped anyway and need a break. The steamer can be refilled in about 8 minutes. Then, I refill it and clean the remaining 6 cages. It doesn't quite finish all 6, but again, I'm old and usually need a break anyway. I fill it a third time and finish cages and all of the bird gyms. You can buy professional steamers for $300 and up but frankly, unless you have a large aviary with tons of birds, I think this little number does the trick. I have 10 larger parrots: 4 macaws, 1 mini macaw, 1 quaker, 1 amazon, 2 greys and an Eclectus, so you can see I have lots of poop producers. I love mine and highly recommend it. They usually retail for about $100.

I also have the euro pro I love it I put the cage in the shower and spray away! It will be harder with the tiel cage though it's much bigger I'll just have to put towels around it for the debris or something.
