Sauerkraut

We have pork and sauerkraut every new years day and I wanted to know if the birds can have the kraut?

It is really too much salt so I wouldnt give them more than a taste. I fyou make it fresh yourself then they would enjoy the fresh cabbage instead.

I rinse mine first before cooking it (in beer and chicken broth along with the pork roast). Maybe this would work for you? It makes it a bit milder and probably washes off some of the salt.
