Bacteria Infection??

Hello, I have a 9mo. old GCC and he has seen the vet last week for a checkup, had bloodwork done about 5 mos. ago.I now noticed that for about a month and a half he has been poopin funny,I mean you call see the 3 seperate parts(urine, green poo, white kidney secretions)but the poo itself was no longer tubular. This caught my attention because i thought to myself i had been sein this for about 1 1/2 mos. so now im lookin hard at alllll the poops since yesterday. And now he's really poopin oddly sometimes no poo comes out just water, and then when poo came out it was small,AND most importantly why i started watching was because i read in another topic i posted that bubbles in poo was bad.

So the first thing that crossed my mind was that i had seen that before and remembered it was in his first morning poops and there will be bubbles,And i clearly remember not seeing those when i first got him!I own 1 other bird a budgie,Now im worried and tryin to think how i can do this,First ill finish off tellin you what he eats,Pellets, millet, fruits, veggies, bottled water, im worried because this is somthing he didnt do before and now when i make him poop for me i look at it HARD and i see like 2-3 bubbles in it.His poop is soft enugh sometimes that when it hit the grounds it sorta splats unless it's on clothing or newspaper.I dunno what to do next fecal gram?some other test i dont know about? What will tell me if he is healthy or not im SOOOO tired of worrying if my bird is sick or not that i just feel tired.I got a couple pictures of his poops while i was writing this and hopefully will be able to add them OMG WOW in one photo if i can figure out how to add it,you can actually see some of the bubbles in his big morning poop he did on the scale.YESSS I ADDED IT NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT THAT POOP.

depending on the food that he ate, there might be a large amount of liquid... especially fruit and juices contribute significantly to this. valo loves to sip on orange juice, and sometimes he just poops liquid afterwards.
i would be careful judging the morning poop - that's really not regular poop there could be bubbles in it... i don't know about your guy, but valo sometimes has to push so hard that just the speed could cause bubbles LOL
i don't think that your poop - aeh, your bird's poop - looks very odd... for a morning poop, there's lots of green color and it's not as solid as you might expect, but that depends heavily on what he munched on for dinner. the other poops look normal to me if they happened somewhat after eating veggies/fruit and having some water. though the left one is lacking some consistency.

i'd keep watching it, and if i'd still be concerned, i'd collect one and bring it to the vet for a fecal exam (which should cost you around $20-25). that should tell you if there's something wrong.

edit: after discussion with the BF, we decided that we've seen poops like your's - well, your bird's from our birds before... also, colored pellets can influence poopy color; but again, if you're unsure just bring a sample to your vet

His poops are like smaller and smaller and sometimes nothing but urine and a tinniest speck of white kidneys secretions.I can explain the bubbles and called my vet (which is in surgery)and she said to bring a sample by and had the front desk lady ask me if he's eating well,i said yes but HIS POOPS ARE TINY TO NOTHING!So ill prolly be stopping in with some fresh poo,NOW SOMEONE TELL ME WILL I GET ALLLL MY ANSWERS FROM THIS FECAL GRAM??????????He got his bloodwork done 5mos. ago and was clean there so will this fecal be the last of this nightmare??????????????Only thing he worries me about recently was his poop and why these odd things are happening!!!!And Mor he didnt eat veggies today!!Besides the dry ones in his pellets that he dunks in water. And he eats the "Natural"non-colored pellets aswell and hasnt had no veggies today and had Birdie bread for dinner last night ,thats the photo on the left.

The poop exam will not tell you if your bird has a bacterial infection. It will tell you if he has a yeast infection or giardia. If it's fresh enough, the vet (Dr LaBonde, I hope?) will be able to tell you if the ratio of the three ingredients is what it should be.

Not all poops are created equal! Some will be smaller, some will be more watery, and some will be beautiful textbook poops. And those morning poops! Wow! They can make the house shake when they hit the ground because they're huge.

To me, the poops look fine.

Do you weigh your bird on a regular basis? If you don't have a scale, do you feel his keelbone on a regular basis? Have you checked his vent to see if poops are sticking?

Call Dr LaBonde's office and either talk with him or one of the vet techs.

Sometimes we have to have blood work done more than once a year if we feel our bird needs it. You're the only one who can make that call. LaBonde is reasonable. I wouldn't be surprised if you would just be charged for a recheck, rather than a full exam since you had him in a few months ago. Call and ask. He's the most reasonable person I know, and he would never think to overcharge or demand tests that aren't absolutely necessary.

I'm sorry you're frustrated but, after talking with LaBonde's office, you may come away feeling better.

His weight sounds fine to me. If it fluctuates a couple of grams, that's nothing to worry about. But I'm not a vet. I'm just someone who has several decades of experience with birds and has learned what I can from books, from seminars, from the internet and from Dr LaBonde. None of us can give you a determinable answer by looking at electronic photographs. Not even the best avian vet in the world would assume to do that.

Bottom line if you feel there is a problem, you need a face-to-face with an avian vet. None of us are rich and sometimes we have to rebudget our expenses for our birds. Heaven knows I have to do that on a regular basis as I've been unemployed since April. We do what we have to do.

I wrote the last message with the assumption that you're the BB member who lives in the Colorado mountains and comes down the hill to see Dr LaBonde? If not, my previous message will make little sense......

A gram stain can sometimes determine whether there are gram negative rods. If you do not take the bird in and they only do the gram stain, they may be able to determine whether there is bacteria or yeast and it will cost less than a full exam.

I do not say this to be nasty, but owning birds can unfortunately sometimes be expensive when vet visits are necessary. Perhaps you can start a kitty into which you put a little money each week to save for the unfortunate or unexpected vet visit. We owe it to our birds to have the means to help them if they are ill. Hopefully you will never have to use the money in the kitty, but, for now, I would at least see what a gram stain will do.

You are correct it makes sense but little in the sense that i dont go to labonde and i live in california..So i wish i could deal with thim as he sounds good but i got what i got.Nicole Caraway DVM is my vet and the only vet in my area(I called around everywhere)who deals with birds. So im goin in tomorrow for a free recheck as it hasnt been 30 days since my last it will be free. And i will talk to her about his poo and see what i can do about getting real answers to see if he is sick or not.I just want it to be like a for sure thing not just he seems allright sorta thing.I just want to know he's allright, and now my budgies is sneezing up a storm so i guess my birds are either sick or goin through somthin together that makes them wanna sneeze.Humidity in my house is at almost %60 and i keep it warm in here.I just wanna know what i should do to get REAL answers on if he is sick or not, what should i tell the vet to do if she just says we can try this or that?
