we can catch giardia from our tiels??? hmmm i need to go read up some more on it and see what the symptoms are for humans then

Here's a link about transmission of giardia to humans from other animals. The article indicates that transmission from birds to humans is thought to be relatively low: Giardia

But please don't become a hypocondriac on us! Chances are you won't ever contract it from your bird if s/he has it. Giardia transmission only occurs by accidentally swallowing the parasite; you cannot become infected with Giardia through contact with blood.
