You need to find an emergency avian vet immediately. Not sure what area you are in. If there aren't any around you go first thing in the morning to the closest one. Tell us what state and city you are in and most people on the board have lists of avian vets.

If you can't get to the vet tonight keep your bird warm. Put him in a carrier and wrap a towel with a heating pad around it. Or run to the local Petco and get a heat lamp (without a teflon coating of any kind).

I am sorry to hear that your cockateil is sick. Me and the kids will say a prayer for him.

You need to keep him warm and hydrated. I suggest that you get some childrens Pedialite and syringe it into him. Dehydration can cause shock and shock can kill.

I agree, he needs an emergency vet ASAP. He likely will require IV liquids.

I would agree with The Outlaw somewhat IF you were well experienced with giving fluids into the mouth while properly restraining the tiel but even then (IME & IMO) giving liquids directly into a sick or dehydrated bird's mouth is SUPER dangerous, especially one that is throwing up........Dangerous even if the bird is completely healthy. I would suggest you NOT do that....... I think you should either get to a bird vet ASAP or to a bird only pet shop with well experienced owners on hand (as another choice) or try to find a local breeder who usually has meds etc. available to help ya out, IF THEY are decent & caring enough.

Intravenous injections (at vet office) of lactated ringers is the best way to go along with proper meds but second best is a Sub-Q injection of ringers under the skin for MUCH quicker rehydration than via the crop especially when it is not functioning properly. Injections must be given in the appropriate places, otherwise one could kill the bird if ya hit an air sac or rupture a vein or pierce a vital organ.

Like WildIrish suggested, always say where you are located in an emergency as someone nearby, who may be able to help, just may be reading your post or some member here may know of someone near you to assist. Like everyone suggested, keep him warm but not too hot, watch for panting or labored breathing and then you would lower the temp. some. Should be 85 but if you want to go up to 90 that is ok. I have found it is best to raise temp. slowly once you get above 85. Also, put a damp towel in brooder/hospital tank/enclosure for some humidity....Good luck and let us know what happens please.
