Diamond Dove 411

Hello, I am the new kid here. Have a few questions about my dove's. They are just 4 months old now and it is still not clear as to the sex. However it does tend to look like we have a M&F. Two questions. The other day they had a fight that put the female (I think) down on the bottom of the cage and I thought it was dead. I removed the bird and put it in another cage for a few days. I have it back with the other now and everything seems fine. Is there a chance that they are both males or both females that made them fight like that? The one I think is the male mounts the other a few times a day. Will same sex birds do that?
Last question (for now) would it be a problem to add a parakeet with the 2 doves or will there be a territory problem.
Thanks for any help you can lend me.

I have a Diamond Dove and think that it is a female because when I purchased the bird, I found a description of the differance, I think the female has larger white spots and the male has brighter orange rings. I don't know if this is true. I also have a male Fischer's Lovebird which I am introducing to the Dove. It is very slow and there are times when Tye-dye(Lovebird,male) goes into the Dove's cage and eats the seeds and sits for a spell. Dusty(the Dove) was singing to him for a little while. However, I am very cautious about this and watch them intentsely when they are near each other because the Lovebird can be combative. So I don't know about a parakeet but I would watch them very carefully. Happy captibirding!

A mature male diamond dove will have a thicker orange circle around his eyes. If your birds are only four months old, it may be difficult to make that determination. They're too young.

I think I have decided not to add another bird to the Diamond's. They have enough trouble getting along with each other and a 3rd may not be too smart. What do you think? I added a picture of my little guys, take a look if I did it right.
