Cloncurry ringneck

Hi

Does anyone have a cloncurry ringneck parrot or any other Australia ringneck as a pet? I am interested in getting one. I have found a bit a info on them, they a beautiful birds but I don't know if they like being handled and cuddled or if they tend to be a shy bird.

I originally had my heart set on a Sun Conure and I know I would love the nature of this bird however after reading up lots on Sun Conures I am a bit hessitant due to how loud and noisy they can be.
If the Suns are well trained and treated well with lots of attention, are they a bit quieter? I am mainly worried about the neighbours and loudness while myself and others are on nightshift for work.

I previously had a love bird for 16 years and he was just the best. He had such a personality and loved to be wherever I was. He used to sit on the bell of my saxophone or on my shoulder when I was playing.

If anyone knows anything on the Cloncurry rinkneck I'd love to hear from you so I can decide if it will be suited to me.
Thanks Jenny

I don't have one, but think they are lovely. Some folks may know them as Mallee ringnecks?

They are lovely aren't they? I saw them for the first time last week when I took a sick little Rainbow lorrikeet (wild) around to a guy that looks after birds. He has quite a collection of Australian parrots. I have since found out that the Port Lincoln parrot, Mallee ringneck, Cloncurry ringneck and the Twenty Eight Parrot are all a sub species and are closely related. By the looks of it, they seems to be naturally located in different parts of Australia.

I'm looking seriously at getting one as my fiance (being a proud Aussie) would love to have an Australian parrot. I'm just a little worried it may not be as cuddly and enjoy human company as much as other parrots.

Anyway we seem to think the sick little Lorrikeet may have went a little overboard on fermenting fruit and got a little drunk. He's being cared for till he's ok to be released back into the wild. It turns out quite a few Lorrikeets have been found lately in the same state and have all recovered and since been released.

Are you still looking for a Cloncurry? I have two breeding pairs and 6 babies, 3 weaned, not tame, and 3 in the nest that can be pulled for handfeeding....
